Introducing Modern Telecom Softphone  - no additional charge software phone that runs on Google Chrome Browser
Why would you want to use a softphone?  Supposed you are at home or on a business trip in another country, you need to call a client or collaborate with a colleague , turning your smartphone, tablet, desktop or laptop into your office phone extension allows you to make or receive calls from your work extension anywhere you can get Internet.  Making calls from the softphone will exhibit the caller ID of your work phone number or local extension identity.  You would dial your colleagues extensions directly as if you were on your physical desktop phone.  While you leave the browser window open, if your office extension rings, Chrome browser will alert you and you can answer the call directly from within the web browser.  You can hold, conference and transfer calls using the on screen buttons.  Check your call history and listening to your voicemail are now easier than ever, simply click on the voicemail to return the call directly within the portals softphone.  Have some fun with it! Here’s how to login:

Using Google Chrome Browser (or any WebRTC browser)
go to:  https://  alias  .moderntelecom.ca
note: "alias" needs to be substituted with your customer alias which is assigned by Modern Telecom, please reach out to us to ask what your customer alias is.   If you have been using the portal for call history or voicemail access already, use the same alias, account and password to login.  If you have never been assigned portal access before and would like to be, please email us for a username and password to be assigned.  By default we have disabled portal access for users who do not intend to use it for security purposes.   Once logged in you are prompted by Chrome to allow pop-up notifications, if you select yes then you will be notified of incoming calls by a pop-up and given the opportunity to answer the call within the browser, if you select no then you will only be able to place outgoing calls. If you are not able to place or receive calls please confirm you are using a WebRTC enabled browser such as Google Chrome and that you didn't forget to put the "s"  after http.
